Chris Cornell, poznati pevač i frontmen bendova Soundgarden i Audioslave, iznenada je preminuo u sredu uveče u 52. godini. Predstavnik za medije rok zvezde, Brian Bumbery, potvrdio je vest o Cornellovoj smrti.
Vest da je pevač hita Black hole sun preminuo iznenadila je mnoge jer je samo nekoliko sati pre smrti nastupio na koncertu sa bendom Soundgarden u Fox Theathre u Detroitu, a na Twitteru je objavio koliko je uzbuđen zbog povratka u ovaj grad, za koji ga vežu brojne uspomene.

Cornell se dugo borio sa zavisnošču od narkotika, a ranije je otkrio da je nedozvoljene supstance počeo da koristi u 13. godini i sebe je smatrao jednim od pionira zloupotrebe oksikontina. Kasnije je otišao na rehabiitaciju i uspešno se izborio sa zavisnošću.
Kako je Chris bio jedan od osnivača grandž scene u Sijetlu, uticao je na karijeru mnogih muzičara, te su mu brojne kolege i prijatelji na Twitteru danas odali počast i izrazili duboko žaljenje zbog njegovog preranog odlaska.
